|A restoration of Steropodon galmani|
| Steropodon galmani|
Archer, Flannery, Ritchie, & Molnar, 1985
Steropodon was a small mammal that was similar to a platypus. It was an egg thief, eating dinosaur eggs. They also probably fed on insects.
In popular cultureEdit
Steropodon was featured in the fifth episode of the series Walking with Dinosaurs, where it was not identified properly (later identified as Steropodon in the companion book) and live-acted by a coati, even though in reality Steropodon resembled nothing like a coati. In the episode, a Steropodon attempts to raid the nests of a group of Leaellynasaura, but one mother Leaellynasaura drives the mammal off by kicking dirt at it with her forearms.
