Neocathartes is a bird from late Eocene North America. Initially it was thought to be a New World vulture, just a prehistoric one, but now it is presumed to have been a cariamid instead, making it more closely related both to the modern seriema birds and the extinct terror birds instead. It was about 45 cm tall.
