A photograph of a Hawaiian monk seal.

The Hawaiian monk seal (Monachus schauinslandi) is a extant species of earless seal which is endemic to the Hawaiian islands, as its name suggests. It has been classified as critically endangered by the IUCN. It is one of three species of monk seal, alongside the also critically endangered Mediterranean monk seal and the extinct Caribbean monk seal.

The first Hawaiian monk seal fossils date back to the Miocene epoch.
