Chasmatosaurus is a dubious genus of crocodilian ancestor from the early Triassic Period, before the dinosaurs. It had a strange overbite, which was probably used to its advantage so that its prey could never escape. Chasmatosaurus was about 2 meters long, it would probably eat fish and small reptiles. Chasmatosaurus remains have been discovered in Africa, Asia, and Antarctica. It is now considered a junior synonym of Proterosuchus

Popular Culture

Proterosuchus (identified by its junior synonym Chasmatosaurus) made an appearence in Walking With Monsters hunting Lystrosaurus that were crossing the river.
